First Sunday of Advent 2014

The Anglican church celebrates Advent, the time period leading up to Christmas. During the four Sundays preceding Christmas, Anglicans use Advent wreaths at church and in their homes to prepare for the birth of Christ. Making an Advent wreath is a simple way to celebrate Christmas with your family.

How to Make an Advent Wreath

An Advent wreath has a total of five candles -- one for each of the four weeks leading to Christmas and one for Christmas day itself. To begin, put four candles on a wreath or at least in a circle. Traditionally the candles are purple, because in antiquity, purple dye was very expensive and it was the color of royalty. We use purple for Advent because it is the season of the coming of the King. If you can’t get purple candles, you can substitute blue ones. You can also make one of the candles pink if you like—technically, it is rose colored. The fifth candle, it goes in the center of the wreath and it should be white. For the best appearance, make sure that all the candles are the same height, except the white one, which should be a little taller.

Counting Down
For each of the four Sundays leading up to Advent, light one candle on that week until they are all lit during the final week. The first purple candle symbolizes hope and the prophecy of Christ's arrival on earth. The second purple candle represents peace and the location of Christ's birth, Bethlehem. The third candle, which is the pink one, symbolizes joy and the shepherds who received the news of Christ's birth and went to worship him. The fourth candle, which is again purple, represents love and the rejoicing that Christians feel about Christ's birth. On Christmas day, light the white candle which represents the Christ child and his purity.

Altered Photo Frame

One of the groups I am in we were to make our partner an altered 5x7 frame.
My partner wanted something that  was "shabby chic steampunk". I hope she likes it!

YouTube Adventures

Several crafters and other people that I look up to have been pushing me to get out there on YouTube. I have been so reluctant to throw myself to the wolves. I decided.  No. More. Fear. Just do it!

So, by the end of the month I should have 2-3 tutorials taped and posted for your enjoyment.

My Favorite Product of the Moment

This is the product I can not stop obsessing over. Trust me. Once you try it you'll need all colors too!! Pick yours up at my favorite on line craft supply store Tupelo Designs LLC.

AMG THINK PINK and HAUNTED HOUSE POSTCARD SWAPS

A couple of postcard swaps...now that they have been mailed/received I thought I would post them.

The first one the theme is THINK PINK! for October Breast cancer Awareness Month and the second one is a postcard that had to be completed in a couple days and include a haunted house.

Hope my partners like them!

DIY Snowman Dry Erase Memo Board

So over on Maymay Made It she made this adorable Dry Erase Board. On her Facebook Group she challenged everyone to share what they have made using one or more of her Christmas Tutorials.
I chose to make this one. I am TERRIBLE at following tutorials, but I really wanted to try my best to copy hers as much as I could. I thought it was so quick, easy, and adorable. If you make one I would love for you to share your photos with me either here or on Facebook.

Here is my version. Enjoy!!!

My Dollar Tree did not have any snowmen, so I walked next door to Pier One and found this cute little guy for like $5.00. I ended up using the boots that Maymay did not use. So for $8.00 buckaroos I have this cute dry erase board to sit on my kitchen island this year.

Here is here tutorial for the ones that want to play along!

DE-STASH Close To My Heart Stamp Sets

Destashing some very old Close To My Heart Stamp Sets. (I am thinking 2000-2005 maybe.)
They are in their original packaging. Most have never been used.
I am including front and backs of the sets so you can see the condition.

Considering these are free other than shipping cost, they are sold as is. I have not used them in about a decade. They have remained in their original boxes. Only CTMH inks have ever been used on them.

If interested, let me know the stamp set you want. I am only taking PayPal (no checks) at this time.

Each set is $5.95 to cover Priority Mail 2-Day™ Small Flat Rate Box or if you want all sets shipping Priority Mail 2-Day™ Medium Flat Rate Box is $12.65 in USA only. If you are international message me and I can let you know the cost of shipping.

I know many of you collect older stamp sets, so hoping these find a new home.

Thanks!

Day 28, Wall Hanging (to frame), junk journal cover, or anything else you may want to use it for.

I started off by making a faux leather page from Kraft cardstock, did the water-glycerin application, inked it, etc. After that I knew I wanted to use this stamp and still have yet to decide if I want to frame it in a shadow box or use it as a "leather" journal cover. If you have never tried this technique you should. The cardstock feels and is pliable just like leather!
